Psychotherapy is a safe space for you to explore yourself and grow. Getting started with psychotherapy and finding the “right match” or “good fit” of a therapist takes time. We try to make it easier for you.

Please fill out the Patient Info Form and our intake coordinator, Pamela, will get back to you within a day.

If ready – you can book an appointment yourself with the Request Appointment link to the right.

As soon as the initial intake is set up, you will be sent an email containing the link to our patient portal at Simple Practice where you will find the intake package with forms that need to be completed. Individual sessions are typically held once or twice weekly for 45 minutes.

insurance and payment
The SYNC team accepts various forms of insurance and private pay.  We accept Aetna, UnitedHealthcare StudentResources, NYSHIP, and First Health insurance. We can also accept out-of-network insurance in many cases, e.g. BCBS, UMR, etc. We are happy to help clients with out-of-network coverage and obtain reimbursement from their insurance plans.

Please contact your insurance carrier for more information. For example:

Do you need prior approval or a referral to begin treatment with an out-of-network provider? Do you have an out-of-network deductible? At what rate does your plan reimburse for out-of-network services after you met the deductible? Ask also what your co-insurance (the percent of each session for which you are responsible after the deductible has been met) is. Ask if there is a session limit. Ask if is there an out-of-pocket maximum (the amount of spending after which they cover the whole session fee)?
consultations
The first 1-3 sessions serve as consultations. This is an opportunity to talk about what you would like to work on, and what you expect from treatment. We will discuss how we may be of help to you, develop an individualized treatment plan, and see if we are a good “match” for ongoing treatment.

All consultations and sessions are strictly confidential.
sessions
Sessions are based on a weekly basis. This can involve 1-3 45 min (couple 60min) sessions per week, depending on your needs.
