SYNC Somatics
Introduction:
SYNC Somatics™, aims to encompass various somatic practices such as the Kestenberg Movement Profile (KMP), Laban Movement Analysis (LMA), Body Mind Centering (BMC), Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), and Authentic Movement (AM) and Critical Somatics, into a single, comprehensive approach.
SYNC Somatics™ serves to synthesize the strengths and philosophies of these five essential practices to form a harmonious, comprehensive methodology tailored to impart profound health, body consciousness, and psychological well-being.
Comprehensive Framework:

Comprehensive Framework:
Kestenberg Movement Profile (KMP): KMP brings its comprehensive movement analysis system into the SYNC Somatics™ framework, serving as an instrumental tool for observing, documenting, and interpreting an individual's movement behaviors and patterns, thus providing critical insights into their relational, emotional, physical, and psychological states. Based on a psychoanalytic framework, the KMP helps to observe and identify intrapsychic and interpersonal (object-relational) patterns within and between people.
Laban (Bartenieff) Movement Analysis (LMA):
Laban Movement Analysis systematically records, analyzes, and describes movement dynamics and structure. It documents all possible human movement qualities and patterns, combining dynamics, body shape, and spatial structure. Laban’s “Effort" concept (drive) describes movement dynamics, consisting of space, weight, time, and flow whereas Laban's Shape concept refers to the body’s changing form during Effort. Laban’s Effort/Shape concept connects body-space, movement dynamics, and mental/emotional expressions of movement, addressing the psychological side of movement aesthetics. It explores each facet of human personality and behavior as reflected in movement.

Body Mind Centering (BMC):
BMC contributes the concept of embodied anatomical and physiological awareness and exploration, deeply enhancing the sense of attention, integration and wholeness in the individual. Starting from the smallest organizations in the body (cells) to bigger body systems (organs, fluids, bones, muscles, endocrine), to developmentally organized movement patterns, allows for experiential anatomy, re-patterning and reorganizing of the body-mind system.

Dance Movement Therapy (DMT):
DMT elements in SYNC Somatics™ will provide an expressive therapeutic component to enable the expression of inner states, promote effective coping mechanisms, and enhance psychological resilience through movement. Mechanisms of action are mirroring, amplification, and somatic transference.

Authentic Movement (AM):
As part of SYNC Somatics™, AM will facilitate a safe space for the spontaneous creative movement process to occur, fostering deep introspective awareness and connection between the body's inner sensations and outer movements. This process is like "free association" in psychoanalysis, but achieved through inner movement and a witness/therapist.

Critical Somatics:
The body is a crucial site for change, learning, and transformation. Our physical form is shaped by our interactions with experiences and environments, including political, economic, social systems, cultural beliefs, and practices. As we adapt, developing resilience, survival strategies, and social and cultural practices, these adaptations become ingrained and automatic. Deeply embodied aspects of ourselves are closely tied to our identity and self-perception. These somatic aspects are interdependent, working together to facilitate a shift in our embodiment, transitioning from our current physical form to a new one, individually and collectively.
